Time’s Influence on Health and Wealth: Balancing Today and Tomorrow

January 01, 20255 min read

This is Part 2 of a 3 Part Article.

Time affects every part of our lives, from our physical well-being to our financial stability. The choices we make about how we use our time today ripple into our future, shaping the health we enjoy, the wealth we build, and the lifestyle we experience.

But balancing today’s demands with tomorrow’s dreams isn’t always easy. It often requires us to step back, reflect, and make intentional changes, even when life feels busy. Let’s explore how time influences these two critical areas of life and uncover small, purposeful shifts that can create lasting change.

Time and Physical Health: The Foundation of Everything

Our health is our greatest asset, yet it’s often the first thing to take a back seat when life gets busy. The irony is that neglecting our health today usually costs us more time, money, and energy tomorrow.

Think about this:

  • Skipping exercise or meals made with nutritious food can lead to reduced energy, increased stress, and long-term health challenges.

  • Postponing regular self-care can lead to burnout, which steals time from other areas of your life.

  • Taking supplements that are not absorbed effectively or increase free radicals causes long harm to your body.

  • Exposure to products containing harmful chemicals, such as bleach, ammonia, Parabens, or Phthalates, may not cause short-term harm. However, long-term exposure can cause many health issues.

It’s easy to view time spent on health as optional, especially when urgent demands like work and family take precedence. But the truth is, every small effort you invest in your well-being today compounds over time. A 15-minute walk, preparing a few simple healthy meals, or incorporating effective nutritional supplements might seem minor. Still, these actions add up to energy, focus, and resilience that benefit you for years to come.

Reflection Point: Are you spending the appropriate & effective time on your health now, or are you waiting until it becomes urgent? And either difficult or impossible to reverse? What’s one habit you could start today to invest in your future well-being?

Time and Financial Wealth: Building Stability for the Future

How we use our time also shapes our financial future. Many of us get caught in the cycle of “trading time for money,” working only to meet today’s needs and continuously postponing the important activities that will bring us the lifestyle we desire.

Here are a few examples:

  • Spending time on repetitive tasks that could be automated or delegated.

  • Sticking to familiar income streams instead of exploring new skills or opportunities that align with your goals.

  • Prioritizing short-term expenses over long-term financial growth.

  • Allowing our fears or lack of knowledge to stop us from taking that next step.

Shifting even a small amount of your time toward activities that build financial stability—such as learning a new skill, exploring a side business, or developing a plan for passive income—can lead to greater freedom.

It’s not about overnight change; it’s about recognizing opportunities to shift your focus and use your time more intentionally. Imagine the possibilities if you dedicated even one hour a week to pursuing a financial goal or creating a strategy for long-term stability.

Reflection Point: Are your daily choices building the financial future you want, or are they keeping you in the same cycle?

Balancing Today and Tomorrow

The key to aligning your time with your health and wealth lies in balance.

  • For Health: You don’t need to overhaul your routine overnight. Start small—take a 10-minute walk, prep a few healthy meals, prioritize getting more rest, and investigate or validate whether the products you currently use really provide the safety and/or nutritional benefits you believe they do.

  • For Wealth: Reevaluate your current financial situation. If nothing changes, prices keep going up, and your income does not, what will your life and finances look like in one year? Five years? Ten years? Identify one area where you could invest your time to learn, grow, or create. Whether it’s researching a new opportunity or automating a time-consuming task, every small step adds up.

It’s not about doing everything at once; it’s about progress over perfection. If you want a short-term change, you will have to do more. If time isn't the issue and long term change is ok, then you may be able to move at a slower pace.

Balancing today’s needs with tomorrow’s desires means honoring the responsibilities of the present while staying intentional about your future.

Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

One of the biggest obstacles to aligning your time with your future goals is the comfort zone. It feels safe, but staying there can keep you stuck in routines that don’t serve you.

Ask yourself

  • Are you prioritizing today’s comfort over tomorrow’s growth?

  • Is the fear of change holding you back from improving your health or exploring financial opportunities?

  • What is the actual fear - and is it all in your head or is it really an obstacle? And is it something you can move past either by yourself or with some guidance?

Growth requires stepping into the unfamiliar. Whether it’s trying a new workout, saying no to a time-draining task, or exploring a side gig, overcoming minor discomforts today can lead to a more fulfilling life tomorrow. And remember, the courage to step out of your comfort zone often sparks the most meaningful transformations.

Call to Action: A Small Shift Toward Your Goals

This week, take one small step in each area:

  1. Health: Identify one health habit to focus on this week; small, consistent actions lead to significant health wins.

  2. Wealth: Choose one task to invest time in that could improve your financial future, like researching a side project, scheduling time to develop a skill, or seeking out opportunities to expand what you are already doing or add something new that will give you the outcome you desire.

Remember, small, intentional steps today can create momentum that transforms your tomorrow.

In part 3 next week, we’ll explore how to reframe your relationship with time and create a plan for a more intentional and fulfilling future.
